Theme for 2003: Peace with God, peace with self and peace with others.
Key Verse for 2003: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God
(Matthew 5:9).
Prayer for the Year: Lord make me an instrument of your peace.IN
ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give thanks in all
circumstances." 1Thes 5:16. Apostle Paul reminds the believers to do three
things in all circumstances. For that we have to acknowledge that all of us have different
circumstances, contexts and experiences and every day that changes. There may not be any
uniformity in what we experience, but Paul says there should be some sort of uniformity in
our responses. On a given day some of us may be happy, some of us may be sad and unhappy,
some others may be in fear and many others may be anxious and angry. There could not be
any uniformity in our experiences. But there should be three uniform elements in the
responses of Christians.
First of all, in all circumstances we have to rejoice.
Secondly, in all circumstances we have to pray.
Thirdly, in all circumstances we have to give thanks to God.
Isaac Newton, the great scientist, once said, "I can take my
telescope and look millions and millions of miles into the space; but I can lay telescope
aside, go into me y room and shut the door, get down on my knees in earnest prayer, and I
see more of heaven and get closer to God than I can when assisted by all the telescopes
and material agencies on earth." He rejoiced in his victories and in his failures,
continuously prayed to God and gave thanks to God in all circumstances. Let us practice
this three fold spiritual exercise in our life too. It will make us spiritually healthy
and alive. |
