Theme for 2003: Peace with God, peace with self and peace with others.
Key Verse for 2003: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God
(Matthew 5:9).
Prayer for the Year: Lord make me an instrument of your peace.Every
Marthomite a Missionary
Dearly beloved in Christ,
October 5th Sunday will be celebrated as the Voluntary evangelists Sunday and Senior
Citizens Sunday. The Annual Convention will be held from October 16th - 19th. Youth
Sunday will be celebrated on October 26th Sunday. This is an occasion for renewal and
rededication. One of the great contributions of Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan to our
church is his famous motto: "Every Marthomite is a Missionary." The famous
Theologian Emil Bruner once said: "The church exists by mission as fire exists by
burning." Mother Theresa shared her vision about mission: "We have to live the
love of God in prayer and in our work, through a life characterized by the simplicity and
humility of the gospel. We do this by loving Jesus in the bread of the Eucharist, and
loving and serving him hidden under the painful guise of the poorest of the poor, whether
their poverty is a material poverty or spiritual one. We do this by recognizing in them
(and giving back to them) the image and likeness of God." Jesus said: "You are
the light of the world. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but
on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light
shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in
heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16). This is the mission of the church and every member of the
church. Let us become missionaries by our life, love and witnessing. Let our actions speak
louder than our words, and our life louder than our claims. Mission is a meaningful
Christian existence moment by moment. |
