Theme for 2003: Peace with God, peace with self and peace with others.
Key Verse for 2003: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God
(Matthew 5:9).
Prayer for the Year: Lord make me an instrument of your peace.Let us go to
Bethlehem and see the things that has happened. Luke 2:15
At the birth of Jesus, the angels sang the
first carol and the shepherds were very excited. They said to one another, "let us go
to Bethlehem and see the things that has happened." There started a journey, a
journey towards Jesus. This journey towards Jesus continues even today. People from
different countries and communities are participating in that journey. After seeing Jesus,
they continued their journey, but through a different route and carrying the good news
that they have seen Jesus. This is a journey together with Jesus into the bye ways and
highways of life. We need to sing the carols that the angels sang, throughout our life
journey. Are we limiting our carol singing only for this season or are we enthusiastic in
singing that song everyday in our life? The first carol proclaimed glory to God and wished
peace to the human beings. In our everyday carol singing, we have to give glory to God and
wish peace to those who are living in the shades of fear and hopelessness. Of course,
Christmas brings the message of peace to everybody irrespective of his/her color, caste
and creed. Do we carry peace in our life journey? Let us continue our journey with Jesus
as a community of peacemakers.
Let us give away the gift of Christmas (Jesus) to everybody we meet in our journey.
