Theme for 2003: Peace with God, peace with self and peace with others.
Key Verse for 2003: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God
(Matthew 5:9). The theme of our parish for the year 2003 is
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace." This peace prayer is believed to be
written by St. Francis of Assisi, a prayer to be genuinely prayed by everybody and
everyday. Francis, a man of peace was born into a period of incredible turbulence, strife,
violence and warfare. During his youth he watched his own city and country being wrecked
by civil war and revolts of peasants against feudal system.
At the age of twenty he became a warrior but he was captured
and had to spend a year in jail. Two years later, he was set again for war, this time in a
Papal army bound for crusades. But during the assault Jesus, the Prince of Peace captured
him. On his way to the battle he had a vision from God and it took one year for him to
understand the meaning of this vision. In the process, he came to a deep faith in God,
gave himself to live the life that Jesus lived, and turned from the pursuit of warfare to
the practice of peace.
We live in a world of unrest, unhappiness and injustice and we
live in the shadow of fear and failure. All of us are anxious about what is going to
happen in this year and in the near future. What we need at this moment is the power of
inner peace through Jesus, the power to look at life in a positive and creative way and to
do our best to make the world better as what we want it to be. We have to bring our peace
into this turbulent world, as the firefly brings its light into the world in the moments
of darkness. Let us become peacemakers in the world and enjoy the blessedness of the
Kingdom of God.
Prayer for the Year: Lord make me an instrument of your peace.
Wish you all a Blessed and Happy New Year! |

 | Volunteers Please! Volunteers are welcome for cleaning the church and for providing
refreshments on Sundays. |
 | Keep the Church and premises clean and tidy always. It's our responsibility, not
other's. When we leave the toilets keep it cleaner than when we entered it. After all, the
Church is our home itself. |
 | Come to the Church every Sunday a little bit earlier. We have to start the service at
10.00 am sharp. Keep silence and spend some time in prayer before the service. No talking
please, after 9.50 AM. |
 | Bring your Bible and note pad every Sunday. Note down the main points of the sermon and
your reflection for future reference. Hearing, reading and writing will help us to reflect
and remember. |
 | Take the worship books (Bible also if needed) from the table on the rear end, use it and
return it after service. Remember that we have no servants, but we are the servants. |
 | Participate in the Worship Service actively and whole heartily. Read the responsive
readings loudly, slowly and clearly. No express readings, please. Sing loudly and
celebrate the singing. Worship is a celebration of the Glory and Presence of God. |
