     Curifiction of Death and Resurrection of Life

Jesus said, "Father into your hands I comment my spirit" Luke 23:46

Cross is the point of ultimate submission. There Jesus gave everything into the hands of the father. In fact, for Jesus, it was the point where he gave his struggle of death into the hands of God. At the cross, Jesus crucified death and proclaimed that death does not have ultimate victory over life. It was the point where he celebrated victory over death. At the cross there was a resurrection of life.

When we sow a seed in the soil, it undergoes a process of death that helps the emergence of life. Without death, the seed remains un productive. Death brings in life. This is exactly what happened at the cross. When Jesus submitted himself to the process of death, life emerged. This looks like a paradox, but it is a truth.

Passion Week reminds us the need for submission. We have to submit all the powers of death within us, so that God could initiate a process of life within us. On each day of the week, let us identify and give to God at least one aspect of death within us. Let us give our broken relationships, our shattered ambitions, our painful experiences, our dreadful illnesses, our negative attitudes, our lost hope, our lack of self respect, our hidden inferiorities, our stained morals and many other powers of death, to the hands of God. As we give these to God, He will fill our heart with life that Jesus brought abundantly into this world. The season of passion and resurrection, therefore, is the season of death and life. Are we ready to die and to live?

Edavaka Mission:

Bible study on April 2nd and 16th Fridays at 7.00 pm at the church.
Fasting and Prayer: April 24th Saturday at 10:00 am at the church.

 

Choir Practice:

First and third Sunday at 9.15 a.m. and every Sunday after the service.

 

Announcements:

  1. All our members are requested to contribute towards the Diocesan Sunday collection, which is past due now. Our assigned target is $2700.
  2. Please remember to give Raseesa (an yearly subscription of one dollar per adult member) and Self Denial (money saved through fasting and food restriction), to the treasurer during the Passion Week.
  3. This years Good Friday offertory will be for the Episcopal Jubilee Mandiram (Destitute home) at Kottarakkara.
  4. All our members are advised to contribute monthly subscription (a minimum of $50.00 per month) regularly, to support the life and mission of our church.
  5. Voluntary donations for Parsonage Fund are also solicited.
  6. A special photo session for photo directory will be held on April 10th Saturday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. All those who have not signed up for photo session are requested to sign up and co-operate in this venture.
  7. the 4th Regional Family conference will be hosted by our church during the Thanksgiving weekend. (Nov 25 - 28). Please support the conference through you prayer and participation.
  8. This years Diocesan Family conference will be held from July 28th - Aug 3rd, at Albany, New York and will be hosted by the NY St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church.
  9. All those who are going to India during the summer season are requested to bring some copies of Malayalam/English worship order books or Passion Week worship order books.
  10. The Annual General Body Meeting of our parish will be held on April 18th Sunday, after the service.
