Theme For The Year 2004: FELLOWSHIP
Key Verse For the Year : "But if we walk in the light ... we
have fellowship with one another" (I John1:7)
By His stripes, we are healed
“He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon him. And by his stripes, we are
healed.” Isaiah 53:5
Dr. A.B Simpson, a preacher suffered from ill health. After two nervous breakdowns and a severe heart attack by the age of thirty eight, his physician told him that he would never live up to forty. He was desperate and started looking into the Bible for relief and comfort. He asked Jesus to come into his life and become his source of strength. He then began experiencing the healing and comforting presence of God. He later said, “Every fiber in me was tingling with the sense of God’s presence.” His health improved and he began to witness God.
Later Simpson climbed a 3000 feet mountain. He said, “When I reached the top, the world of weakness and fear was lying at my feet.” He received a new heart by changing his attitude towards and relationship with God. He preached 3000 sermons during the next three years. He wrote many books and inspired many lives before he died at the age of seventy six.
Whenever we are in trouble, God will take care of our weaknesses and fill us with His strength and bring healing and wholeness to our life. “And He was wounded for our transgressions --- and by His stripes, we are healed.” When the human wounds get in touch with the wounds of Jesus, healing happens. Are we willing to acknowledge and expose our wounds to Jesus? |
