Theme For The Year 2004: FELLOWSHIP

Key Verse For the Year : "But if we walk in the light ... we have fellowship with one another" (I John1:7)

“If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness … then your light shall dawn in the darkness and your darkness shall be as the noon day.”
Isaiah 58: 9, 10.

There was an old man who enjoyed creating new words to describe old problems. He named a person who finds fault with everything as an againstovist. We often find fault with everything else and everybody else. What happens is that we are very much scared to ponder on our own vulnerability and therefore in order to protect us against our weaknesses we wear the mask of self defense and attack others by finding fault with them. In our daily life we wear this mask many a times and try to protect us from introspection, correction and change. Slowly we will lose our ability to see our own strengths and weaknesses and there will come a stage when we would not be able to live without finding fault with others. This is a cancer that spreads from one person to another. An againstovist will beget another againstovist and will join hands to make hell in families and societies. Isaiah reminds us not to point our fingers on others and speak wickedness about them. It is better to point our fingers at ourselves and see what our faults are and what areas need correction, improvement and transformation. The word of God will help us to see ourselves as we are and to initiate changes wherever necessary.
