Theme For The Year 2005: Fellowship with God, self and others.

“You do not know what will happen tomorrow.” James 4:14

The only certainty in our life is its uncertainty. Larry Silverstein, the famous developer, owned impressive properties in New York City. But he was obsessed by the desire to add the great Twin Towers of the World Trade Center to his holdings. His wish came true. Six weeks before its destruction on Sept 11, 2001, he had obtained a 99-year lease worth $ 3.2 billion for that majestic center. Unexpectedly, those two skyscrapers were destroyed on Sept 11, leaving only memories and ashes. Humanity was once again reminded of the uncertainty of life and its possessions.

The rich man in Jesus’ parable (Luke 12: 13-21) may have been dreaming about all good things he could acquire because he had a great crop. He said he would build bigger barns, and would spend all his time eating, drinking and partying. But God told him, “Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?”

Jesus reminds us to be rich towards God, not towards what we leave tomorrow. We are quiet uncertain whether we are going to hold tomorrow, what we are holding today. Life is more than the things we store, the dreams we see and the barns we build.

Towers and barns will fail, but love of God and word of God never fails.

Ecumenical Convention & Youth Retreat: The second Annual Convention & Youth Retreat organized by the Malayalee Ecumenical Christian Fellowship of Atlanta will be held at our church on Sept 9th & 10th. Evangelist George Cherian (Navajeevodayam & Missions India) will be the guest speaker. Meetings in the evening will begin at 7.00 pm on Friday and Saturday. Youth retreat will begin at 10.00 am on Saturday. Food will be provided after all meetings. Pray and participate.
