Saint
Paul was a person with great missionary zeal and he was instrumental in
spreading the gospel to many countries and communities.
He never claimed that he attained certain things in his life or
that he is a perfect person, instead he always mentioned that he was
pressing on to reach the destination set for him by God. He was aware of
his limitations as well as the higher call from God. He was always
pressing on to that call. To
be aware of our call is therefore, very important.
Jesus was aware of his call and he pressed on to the cross.
St. Thomas was aware of his call and pressed on to India.
Francis
of Assisi was aware of his call and pressed on to the leprosy colonies.
Mother
Theresa was aware of her call and she pressed on to the streets of India.
Abraham
Malpan was aware of his call he pressed on to the reformation movement.
Where we
are pressing on to? Are we aware of our call?
Human
beings often listen to their ambitions and consider that as their call.
God’s call is over and above our ambitions. Let us try to listen to
God’s higher call and commit our lives to that divine call.
Let us press on to that goal during this New Year.
Wish
you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year

Prayer
-Dr. Thampi P. Daniel
Prayer is as old as man, as universal as religion and as instinctive as
breathing- Gen. 4:26. All men of all faith practiced it in some form. Prayer
springs from the heart with a need-a need greater than man's ability to
encounter. Prayer is man's acknowledgment of being higher than himself.
Most men try to pray, yet so few know how. There are kinds of prayers: the
prayer that does not reach God and the prayer that does reach God. This is
illustrated by our Lord in the parable of the Pharisee and the publican Luke:
18:9-14. Both men went to the same place, at the same time, for the same
purpose- to pray.
The Pharisee prayed in his religious pride, expecting God to answer because he
thought himself worthy. He informed God of his goodness, that he was better than
others. He boasted of his good works. He said. "I fast, I give." this
is the kind of that does not reach God. It is self righteous prayer.
Now look at the publican and his prayer. He came to God in great humility,
conscious of his unworthiness, confessing himself a sinner and begging for
mercy. This is the kind of prayer that does reach God. This is the righteous
prayer.
It is a rare privilege to pray, because it brings you in to close fellowship
with God, admitting your need for Him and utter dependence upon Him.
