Forgiveness and Freedom
Rom 5: 19
A man named John
Lancaster and nine of his companions were lying in prison awaiting
execution. While waiting for the dreaded day of death, they were visited
by a woman called Sarah Peters, who led them to Christ. The day of
execution came and they were taken to the venue of execution through the
streets of London. There was no hope, yet they were full of hope. They
were experiencing freedom of forgiveness amidst the turmoil of
hopelessness. They were about to be executed, yet they enjoyed freedom
within themselves as they have confessed all their sins and sought
forgiveness from God through Christ. Their last journey with this inner
freedom motivated many to believe in Jesus.
What Christ offers on the cross
is inner freedom that comes through forgiveness, amidst of turmoil and
failure in our life. Through Jesus' death we have forgiveness of sin and
through faith in Him we have freedom from the curse of sin (which is
judgment and condemnation). A new humanity is created in Christ through
His obedience on the cross. Through obedience we participate in that new
humanity. Freedom of forgiveness and freedom through obedience are key
factors in Christian life and Jesus provides us with both. On the cross he
celebrated freedom and offered forgiveness. Now it is our turn to
celebrate that in our life. Let this years lent and Passion Week
observances provide us with an opportunity to experience the freedom of
forgiveness and the joy of salvation. |

Farewell to Achen and Family
Our Achen Rev. Simon Behanan and
Kochamma Mrs. Shirley Behanan are returning to India this month after his 5
years of ministry and doctoral studies in the United States. Achen will be
continuing his ministry in Kerala as the director of Mochana, Manganam, Kottayam.
Mochana is the de-addiction and counseling center for the rehabilitation and
development of drug and alcohol addicts.
Achen have given leadership to our
church activities for the last 5 years. We as a church acknowledge and
appreciate all the guidance and directions Achen gave us over the years. During
Achen's tenure we have crossed several milestones and made progress in several
areas. Achen's leadership in building the Atlanta area ecumenical fellowship is
commendable. He will always be remembered as the first resident achen of Atlanta
Marthoma Church.
Kochamma was an active member of
several of our church organizations. Kochamma's presence in choir and Sevika
Sanghom are well noted and we acknowledge and thank you for all your fellowship.
Thank you Achen and family for
your love, dedication, and ministry.
You will be missed
We wish you well and success for all your future engagements
in the ministry.
Bon Voyage
