St. Thomas Day
Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God" John20: 28
The Indian Churches remember July3rd as the St. Thomas
Day. It is believed that apostle St. Thomas arrived in Kerala in AD 52.
His arrival marked the beginning of Christianity in India. He preached the
Gospel, laid the foundations of the Indian church and died as a martyr in
AD 72. He was a traveler a missionary and a church planter.
We called him a doubter because of the happenings in
the upper room on the first Easter evening. The rest believed; but Thomas
was not there. His doubts flowed from what the cross had achieved to Jesus
himself. Seven days later, in that same room, Jesus did for him what he
did for all his close friends. To Thomas he offered his hands and his side
(v.27), but Thomas had no need to touch. Now he knew.
Thomas faith, which had almost died, was now resurrected.
Because his faith had been renewed, he felt himself reborn. As Jesus was
raised from the dead, so Thomas was raised from his unbelief to become a
powerful missionary for his risen Lord.
St Thomas day reminds us the need of faithfulness to our
Lord and his mission. It also Challenges us to uphold the faith "My
Lord and my God", and missionary zeal of the founder of the church,
in this country and wherever we go. Let our church become "The
Atlanta Mar Thoma Missionary Church"
"Little things are little things, but faithfulness
in little things is a great thing"

THE PERSONALITY OF GOD
I Thessalonians: 1:9
For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had
unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God:
The Bible reveals God as a personality. He is called "the living and true
God" One posing self consciousness and self determination. His personality
is shown in what He does, such as:
(1) God loves. "God so loved the world" John 3:16.
(2) God hates. "These six things doth the Lord hate". Pro.6:16.
(3) God cares. "He careth for you." 1 Pet. 5:7.
(4) God grieves. "It grieved Him at His heart". Gen. 6:6.
Only a personality can love, hate, care and grieve; therefore, God must be a
living eternal, personal being.
Next month: "THE NATURE OF GOD".
