"Let the little children come to me, and do not
hinder them, for the kingdom of god belongs to such as these" Mark
10:14
On Nov. 4th we are celebrating world Sunday school day. Sunday school
began in 1780 in Gloucester, England by a person Robert Rakes. He started
classes for poor neglected children who worked six days a week in a
factory. He turned the cursing, fighting and thieving children into people
who read the Bible and sang hymns.
The Role of Sunday School
Sunday school has some great roles to play in modeling up
a child at an early age. The Sunday school can be the meeting place of
children with Jesus, His word and His kingdom. Many great men of God
came to know about Jesus through Sunday School. In Psalms119: 9, we
see one of the greatest questions ever asked. In this modern age it is
relevant too. How can young man keep his way pure? It is only by living
according to God's word. Here is the importance of Sunday school where
the scripture is being taught along with various other activities. Early
age is like a clean sheet of paper in which one can imprint anything that
will have a long standing effect in his/her life.
The Role of Parents
Jesus once said to the disciples, "Let the little
children come to me, for such is the kingdom of God." It seems
someone was hindering the young ones from getting to Jesus. Today this
could be the parents, elders, friends or situation, which stop them from
coming to the Lord. The parents have a great role to play in motivating
and promoting their children to be involved in Sunday school. There may be
parents who send their children on Sunday morning for tuition classes or
to gymnasium. The parents who expect quality children useful to the
community, church and the world should have the heart of Hannah, the
mother of Samuel who took him to the presence of God to hear, learn and
minister to the needs of the people. Thus Samuel became a great prophet of
his day.
Suffer the children unto me to come
The little children, said the voice of Christ,
And for his law whose lips today are dumb
The Master's voice sufficed.
'Suffer the little children'-so he spoke
And in his steps that true disciple trod,
Lifting the helpless ones, for love pure sake
Up to the arms of God

God’s Remedy for Sin
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that
we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
II Corinthians: 5:21
Man, not willing to act God's remedy for his ruin, strives to bring about his
own salvation by human means.
• He strives for self-righteousness, when he needs to be made
the righteousness of God. (Isa: 64:6)
• He strives to reform, when he needs to be regenerated. ( Titus 3:5)
• He strives to turn over a new leaf, when he needs a new life. ( John 10:10)
• He strives to be justified by the law, when he needs to be justified by
faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Gal: 2:16)
• He strives to clean up the old man, when he needs to be made a new man in
Christ. ( Eph. 4:24)
• He strives to be saved by good works, when he needs salvation by the Grace
of God. (Eph. 2: 8,9)
The only remedy for the ruin of man is the Son of God, being
made sin for us on the cross. The only way to receive this remedy is by faith in
Him as personal Savior. (John. 20:30,31)
"It is a fact that you are a sinner" For all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans: 3:23) "It is a fact
that God loves you" For God so loved the world that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. ( St. John: 3:16)
