Prayer- The Power of Life

“Whatever you ask for in your prayer with faith, you will receive” (Mat.21:22)

Prayer generates the most powerful energy even in the midst of energy draining stressful situation. A personal relationship with our creator through our prayer life is vital for the sustenance of our life .The significance of prayer is clearly expressed in the saying, ‘a man without prayer is like a tree without roots’.

Prayer with Thanksgiving

Continual thankfulness in our life comes from an unshakable trust in God’s power and goodness. Each new day gives us new reasons to thank God. It is not necessary that gratitude should be linked with the happy times of our life. Even in periods of suffering, we can thank God for his promise and the goodness he has shown in our lives. “Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”.(Eph.5:20)

Prayer a Bond of Freedom

God has given us the freedom to choose our own time to pray, our own place to pray, to admit any mistake we have committed. Where on earth do we experience such great freedom?

Developing prayer habits can be of tremendous help to those who want to develop a close relationship with the Lord. Prayer habits remind us of our dependence on God.

One small child was prepared for an operation and he was put on the operation table. As the doctor was getting ready for the operation the child asked, “Doctor, what are you going to do with me”. ‘Son, we are going to put you to sleep”-said the doctor. The boy who had a habit of prayer before going to sleep asked the permission of the doctor to do so. The boy prayed a beautiful prayer. He prayed for the doctor and for the nurses also. It was a shocking experience to the doctor who was a drunkard. That day the doctor went home as a sober man. Before dinner he asked for the Bible. So for the first time in their home they read the bible and prayed before dinner. The wife and daughter were surprised to the change in him. Then the doctor explained what had happened in the operation theatre. The prayer of a boy had made it!

As we enter into Great Lent, let us tune ourselves to hear from God.

THE NEW BIRTH IS INCORRUPTIBLE

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1Peter 1:23.

In the above verse we have two seeds, two births, and two natures.

(1) Corruptible seed produces a corruptible nature. (Rom. 1:23) And changed the glory of the incorruptible "God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things.) Corruptible man can produce only corruptible seed. (Matt.7:18) For "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Rom 3:23) because all are born in sin. (Ps. 51:5) You are not a sinner because you sin - you sin because you are a sinner.

(2) Incorruptible seed produce an incorruptible nature (2 Peter 1:4). You cannot corrupt that which is incorruptible; therefore, the incorruptible seed of God issues a new nature that cannot be corrupted at any time, or in any way. The new birth produces the life of Christ, and this life is made living in man by the indwelling Holy Spirit (Rom. 8: 8-10). The seed of man is corruptible; the birth of man is natural. Therefore, the nature of man is sinful. The seed of God is incorruptible; the new birth is spiritual. Therefore, the new nature is sinless.

-Dr. Thampi P. Daniel
