MY LORD AND MY GOD
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and My God”. (John 20:28)

We have come closer to very busy time with various events such as Parish Day, Parish Picnic, Parish Convention and Regional Choir Festival. Various programs have been arranged related to these events. It is the right time to examine where we stand.

We have grown to the level of a full fledge parish in 1993 and our church was blessed with a worship place in July 2001 and a parsonage in July 2004. Let us exalt God for the bountiful blessings he has showered upon us in the past and may this parish day celebration kindle with us a new flame of Christian fellowship, mission and witness. At this time let us also remember all who have worked hard for the formation and growth of our Church.

Indian churches celebrate July 3rd as St. Thomas Day. Traditionally we believe that Apostle Thomas arrived Kerala in A.D 52, which marked the beginning of Christianity in India. He preached the Gospel, laid the foundation of Indian church and died as a martyr in A.D 72.

Thomas is the disciple who refused to believe the resurrection of Jesus Christ (John 20:25) But finally he realized and address Jesus “My Lord and My God” and proved that he is a man of faith and a faithful servant of the master. This faith proclamation reminds us the need of faithfulness to our Lord and to his mission. Unfortunately, we sometimes forget to uphold the faith, “My Lord and My God” and missionary zeal of the founder of the church. Every Sunday we proclaim our faith loudly but Monday through Friday it remains unrelated to life.

Dr. Silver Thorne who discovered the vaccine for whooping cough was asked, what was the greatest discovery in his life. Silver Throne replied,” ‘to discover Jesus as my savior and the awareness of my sins’ is the greatest discovery in my life.

GOD'S COFFEE!

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain-looking, some expensive, telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the alumni had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said, Notice that all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases, it is just more expensive and, in some cases, even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups, and then you began eyeing each other's cups.

He continued..."Now consider this: Life is the coffee; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The type of cup one has does not define, nor change, the quality of life a person lives. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee, God has provided us".

God makes the coffee, man chooses the cups. Enjoy your share of GOD's coffee! And have a great life. If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side.

-George John (Babu)
